Cleaning AIr Filter

ohk i searched for this - but couldnt find anything. Mainly because my filter is differnt than i think everyones.

Its like a aluminum filter that i got from pep boys - that is washable. Now - question , when i am about to clean it b/c its kind of dirty do i just need to wash it under the sink ... or should i use some soap or perhaps buy a K&N Re-Charge kit?

Thanks.

It's best to buy a K&N recharge kit. It has a soap that won't damage the cotton or whatever the filter is made of, and it includes an oil that you're supposed to spray on the filter afterwards to catch more dirt. But if you really can't fork out $12, some people just use soap and water (let it dry overnight if possible), but I'm not sure how well that works.

How the F___ is a filter made of aluminum? Are you sure it doesn't have cloth inside it?
