Technically, they don't put tint on at all. But we all know some dealers add tint to help a car sell, although that's more popular with high dollar cars over econoboxes like the Lancer. As for the Lancer in So Cali, very few are seen at a dealership with any tint on them at all.

If you are worryied about being pulled over for tint, just make sure everything esle on your car is fine. They might give you a warning. . .but if they find other things wrong then the ticket could add up!!! I know someone who got pulled over just for having blue LED's in his side mirrors!

Getting ticketed for tints in an equipment violation here NY. What cops wont tell you is that to get the ticker dropped, u have to take off your tints, which none of us ever do.

Hell, i've gotten pulled over for tints in the past and received a ticket for EACH window cuz my tints were 18% and the legal limit is 35%. Now i drive around with 20-25% tints and have yet to get pulled over for them.

They pulled me over just for the tints, nothing more, nothing less.

I live in IL and have 15% tints all around. I've been pulled over in both IL and IN for speeding and have not been ticketed for tints in either. The IL cop told me it was illegal and gave a writen warning but not to worry to much about it cause he said most cops won't ticket it. Thats also a high way cop away from major cities mind you.

Basicaly I've found out that anytime you get pulled over, doing anything wrong or not, if you are nice to the cops they might let you slide.

I got pulled over by CHP for tint (my last car), and tint only. Ends up that my ticket never got put into the system. SO i didnt have to pay for it and never really needed to take the tint off....bastards.

On my lancer it was an option after I bought the car. They asked if I wanted it tinted, and I said yes. I didn't even think about doing anything to it then. Unfortunately it costs extra to take it off.

Ouch, some shops around here remove and reinstall for free (if you bought it from them originally) just to spite the cops. My friend got a fix it ticket (limo all the way around) and when he called the shop to make an appointment to have it removed, the guy said "and when would you like to have it put back on?" Other places refuse to tint the front windows too dark, just to keep the complaints down.

I don't know of anyway to fix that without re-applying the window. You might want to go to your shop that put it on and ask them.
