Hey guys.

I just bought a 2009 Lancer ES. The previous owner removed muffler and the car sounds like a 2000x civic with straight pipe... I'm looking for a muffler to put back but have no idea which one to buy. My question is: what are the quietest muffler out there under $100-150 besides stock. I still want to hear that sound but not very loud though.. I heard "Magnaflow part 12128" sounds pretty good but not sure if it's quite enough.

sounded like he removed a cat on the car and/or went straight pipe witch always sounds like crap on lancers...

if the muffler actually not on car and/or missing ?
I got a nice exhaust done for $250 with parts/labor with 2.5in aluminum piping. no ricely honduh lawn mower sound.... thy do come with silencers but I took mine off and it didn't even alter the tone of my car...

I can get a sound clip of mine tomorrow on my 03 if you want ? and mine is a short tip slant exit cheapo muffler but it doesn't even make a fart sound.. maybe after taco bell but.....

 

also is their anything else done to the car ? cause that can alter sound.. like headers, intake no cat converters etc

I still have a resonator and a manifold (i think it's connected to Cat). I have a Canadian version of Lancer (FED) so there is only one cat installed. But not sure if there was only one resonator in the beginning, cuz there is a after market pipe welded between Manifold+Cat and resonator. No Muffler at all. I just ordered "DC Sport EX-5016 Stainless Steel Round Muffler and Slant Cut Exhaust Tip " from Amazon. Hope it's gonna improve the sound.

well, you have a muffler atleast hahaha.. removing resonator wont harm the car as I did it to my 03 and only part of the system I removed after the cats and been like this since 2009 I think and had no issues from cops here in socal
