Question WORKS Axle Back Muffler versus Stealth Muffler?

I'm going for the whole stealth look, I don't need any more attention from the cops or the Mitsu mechanics than needed!

So, for those of you that have either, could you please post opinions?

What's the fit and finish of either? Same, comparable? Does it matter that the Stealth Muffler has rewelds in steel vs. whatever the ABM is done with? How does the ABM sit versus the Stealth Muffler in the stock bumper cut out?

NOISE LEVEL is very important to me, I hate obnoxiously loud exhaust systems, which is why I'm sticking to only modding the muffler for now, how good/bad are these mufflers in terms of noise levels?

And the last most bang-for buck question:
If the Axle Back retails for $369 and yeilds 12hp
while the Stealth retails for $179 and yields 9hp,
why would anyone pay the additional $190 for 3hp??
(these numbers are taken from the Works Website). . .

Moderators, I didn't know if I should post this here or the WORKs sponsered forum, so move if needed. . .

StealthWorks provides maximum flow while maintaining the stock muffler for stock sound and look. Barely louder if at all. You will definitely not get pull over or even noticed by dealers. I 2nd the stealth look/sound.

So I have one nod to the Stealthworks muffler. . anybody else??
And owners of the ABM that would like to chime in about how loud it is, etc? This is my only exhaust mod until I save up for the WORKS DP, so the difference in $190 will make a difference. . .
Any ideas if the fit/finish will be varied on the Stealthworks mufflers since these are from core mufflers and could potentially be from an owner who has scraped it up a lot, etc.?? Are they covered by the WORKS factory matched warranty??

You will notice a very slight gain in noise level even if you have the WORKS DP and Non-resonated IP with the StealthWorks muffler. I personally would do the StealthWorks if you are truly going for the stealth look and sound.

Regarding the condition of the core mufflers, WORKS will only accept cores that are in good conditions and have less than 10k miles on them if you opt to not send them your stock muffler first. However, if you decide to send yours in and wait, then I don't think it matters because they will just modify yours and send you back yours when it is done.

Lastly, I am not sure but I believe the StealthWorks is also cover by their warranty.

I have the Works Stealth muffler and 2.5" downpipe. Noise is a tad bit more than stock. As far as fit and finish go, it's "stock" because I sent them my muffler, they modified it and sent it back. My car doesn't make as much HP as other cars, but I'm happy. Here is a link to my Dyno sheet with all my Works stuff on the car. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...63#post2358363

Cool. . .sounds like I should go with the stealth if I wanna keep it stealth! Didn't realize how well the exhaust system was engineered for our cars, really only get like 20 hp on most of these TURBO back applications max. . .if the muffler nets 9 or 10, that seems to be the most restrictive end of things. . .thanks guys, guess I need to figure out whether I'll do a core exchange or just buy "new" and send back. . .

Or you can just remove the flapper in the stocker. I did mine and it did pick up some sop power (no 1/4 time or dyno).

I'll tell you when I get the ABM. . .I decided to go with the ABM, I figured I'd rather have a straight through OD of 76mm rather than deal with a hacked up stock muffler that is 70mm OD straight through. . .if it's too loud, my loss will be somebody's GAIN! I"ll take pics and measurements, etc. so subscribe if you want updates on this. . .

I don't think you will lose going either way. The StealthWorks is a great piece for total stealth with the least restrictive flow as possible, while maintaining stock noise level. The ABM is a great looking piece, providing free flow, resulting in more hp but at a expense of a higher noise level.

You will then have to change your signature because it will no longer be a "Sleeper Tarmac Black"
