Hey guys, just thought I’d let you in on my little experience last night. I was out with my friend who owns a 2001 Mazda MP3, well were cruising down the interstate in 4th gear when he looks over at me and says….”lets go” I didn’t see any harm in it, if I win, I win, If I lose, I lose. We both punched it into 3rd gear and went. Now keep in mind I have the Injen cold air Intake with a Vibrant high flow performance filter on it, and he has a modified Civic short ram intake on his plus no A/C. I’m running side by side with him for a good 10 seconds or so before I had to shift back to 4th. As soon as I did that I heard my power drop and he started inching away. From that point he gained feet and finally just dropped off and turned on his flashers. He got back along side of me and said he was impressed by the way my Lancer hung on at the beginning. I felt pretty good until I looked down at my center consol…I’d forget that my a/c was running. I could not believe it. I had my a/c on cause of my front windshield fogging up as I was driving. So I ask you guys this, do you think it may have been possible. Could I have beating him?

it would have def. been closer. Our lancers definately surprise a lot of people....i actually beat a 2.5RS coupe about a month ago and he was VERY surprised that i stayed in front of him (I was surprised too)

Well i beat a mp3... But i think he couldnt drive that well... i think the mp3 is a little faster then the lancer... but... if u drive better.. u can win

 

wait for the MAZDASPEED PROTEGE...its a turbo charged mp3 at like 180hp

 

yeah that will burn all of us... well not boni and zlancer... ill have my turbo soon... so im not worried...

 

Having the AC on drops the HP incredibly. You'd probably have stayed even, or won.

 

You probably would have hung. I doubt you would have one. The mp3's pretty damn quick. Anywho...at least you weren't in the mindset where you'd be pissed if you lost. Competition on the streets means nothing. It's just dangerous...yet fun. On the track on the other hand...I can completely understand people being seriously intense. (Though I still stand by having fun as the main goal of racing. )

 

well first off I know he can drive cause hes been driving a manual since day one of his driving life......So yeah he can drive, besides hes been doing auto Xing and street racing for years, so I think he knows what hes doing. Aside from that I felt really good but AN1MAL CH1N???? why did you tell me to wait till the MAZDASPEED comes out. I already own the OZ and he owns the MP3 so I dont really get the whole wait thing......are you maybe trying to tell me to race the MAZDASPEED???? Although that could be kinda fun......

 

I think he's saying for a higher level of competition from Mazda you should wait for it.

well i state cars sometimes if im impressed or intrigued by it... like the mazdaspeed... when u think about protege... u dont think about performance... until the mp3 came out ... and i think the new mp3 will be amazing with that lil turbo charger

i drive the oz lancer and i onced raced a 300zx and believe it or not i beat him. we were on the interstate and i drive the hell out of my car so i beat him. i have the RMR Rally Intake it was an adrinaline rush! i think he didnt really know how to drive it also but he said ok so we raced

Even it was the NA Z-car there's no way in hell. Closed because as in the past with all street racing posts it gets ugly.
