Anyone have problems with mr. lugnut?
I just got new rims for my car and they have a center cap. I needed new lug nuts because the stock ones with the cap was too big(acorn shape). So i needed lugs where the bolt went all the way through. I went down to checker and found the right size and got all set up. About a week later (today) my wheel start knockin like a mother and shaking and ****. I was crusing around 30 and i was like damn that cant be right. So i get out of my car pull off the center caps and find that all four lugs on my from right wheel are about to fall off. And the car was like this | and the wheel /. I called my mom up and she came over brought the good jack and i took the lugs off and the threading on 3 of the 4 lugs was just ripped up and didnt look uniform at all. They were so bad that i could just push them on the bolt without turning. Thank god it was the lugs because the stock ones went on there with no problems. Anyone elsy have that problem??? I put them on there(the new ones that got all f up) real damn tight i had the big *** breaker bar and everything.
Just wondering does anyone else have any idea where i can get some good lugs that wont stripp or did i completely f' up the install.
thanks peace

Holy crap man that's crazy...exact same thing happened to me about a week ago except I've been driving on these wheels/lug nuts for almost a year. I take my wheels off more often than most I'd say, and always put a lot of torque on them, so it was really strange. The first time I put my wheels on though, I torqued them a hell of a lot more than I should have, 100 ft/lbs. I ended up bending the threads which the lug key slides onto. I don't normally use a torque wrench but I'd say I know do about 80.
Anyway, best thing to do when putting on new wheels and/or lug nuts is to re-torque them after at least 30 miles of initial install. This is what a friend of mine who works at Goodyear told me.

yea always torque them down to spec. i do 80 ft/lbs of torque for my wheels with all seasons on and i do a little more (85-90ft/lbs) or so when i go autocrossing with my other set of wheels.
ive heard a lot of problems with aftermarket lug nuts..mainly the ones that u get when u purchase wheels and tires. im guessing those free lugnuts are cheapo's and are really flimsy. see if u can find yourself a good set..it should do the trick.
