Trade in question!
Do you think i could trande in my 02' Es (auto) for an 02 es manual and not have to pay anything. I only have 26000 on it. What do you guys think because thats the only problem i have with my car?
Thanks Peace

I use to sell cars (mitsu's..and a bunch of other stuff too)...No way will any dealer go for that...you'll need to put at least $500 -$1000 down.
The only way that situation ever works is if the car your trading in is worth more than the car your buying...
...example...you have an EVO Trade value...lets say $23K..and you own $20K....you don't have to put any money down, because you get the difference as money down...
regular lancers aren't work crap for trade...you'll probably only get about 6 - 7 K for one ( I know..I only got $7500 for my 2002 OZ with 32K on it...and that was to the dealer I use to work for)..but they sell for around 8-9k...this is where the $500 - $1000 down comes in.
It can be done, but banks normally will not bite on it, unless your credit is through the roof...but then you car payment goes up...
hope this helps a bit

I know the resale sucks dick but couldnt i sell it myself and buy a maual (same year and everything) and still turn our pretty even?? Or does the manual make it more expensive?? My guess would be the auto makes it more but anyone? (Thanks for the dealership warning i wasent planning on going there i should have been more specific)
i think the only time you're gonna get an even trade-in is if lets say the current car you own is worth $7k and what you owe on the loan is only down to $6k, they're gonna use that difference ($1000), like iup200 said, as your down payment. then if you get a good deal on the used manual es, your payments will most likely stay the same or even get lower since of the $1000 difference. the only thing is about buying used is that if you get it from the dealer, the interest rates are crazy high - almost double. thats why if you're planning on getting something used, either buy it from a private party, pay it off in full, or get a loan from your bank instead of financing it through mitsubishi. its the interest rates on the used car that might increase your monthly. dont expect an even trade because i tried doing what you want to do twice with my oz. but if you do get one, lemme know how it goes
Trading a car when you still owe money on it is a pain in the @$$. I did that with my Trans Am, and no matter what you do, the dealer wants to screw you somehow. Your best bet would be to find someone who has a manual and wants an auto, or maybe sell it private party like you mentioned (but you're still gonna have to pay taxes).

Delearships are in business to make money, and lots of it at that. Unfortunately any deal they do committ to usually gives them an advantage or benefit somehow. So I would say the dealership won't do a straight up trade, since they are not gaining anything significant from it.
Damn dealerships and their damn greedy ways. LoL.

actually the dealership i bought my lancer from was pretty good. this family mitsu wanted to sell me a 02 lancer w/o sunroof for 19K /or an 03 for 22K. we said well come back tomarrow, but never did. when then contacted Collins mitsu and they said 15,900 for an 03 w/ 3miles yes 3.... so we went and test drove it.. put 5 on it and then bought it.... 16,100 was total... my friend bought the same car from family mitsu, 03 but red and color wasn't a price factor.... he paid 22K and i paid 16,100 HUGE difference....
