Hey, i have a 14 lancer es that’s at 124k miles. Not sure what this problem is but it’s not adding up to anything i can figure out. It drives great with nothing wrong but if i drive on the freeway for 15+ minutes of constant high rpm / high speed, a whine will start to happen whenever i gas. it gets higher pitched as i speed up/ increase rpm. the only time it fixes itself is when the car cools off and isn’t driven for atleast 20 minutes then it repeats the process. i never hear the whine or have any weird shifting until it does the freeway thing. also to note after i drive for a while with the noise, usually with the nearest complete stop off an exit, it’ll hitch itself and be stuck at 2000 rpm for a few seconds and won’t exceed 5 mph until i go to neutral and move it back to drive. auto transmission.
