M-M act?
FINALLY someone remembers...

Magnuson-Moss Act:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs...m#Magnuson-Moss

Magnuson-Moss warranty act states that the dealer cannot blame any warranted problem on just any aftermarket product present in the vehicle. They have to prove that the product is the direct cause of the problem you have. Also the denial or voiding of warranty has to be issued on paper for your reference, otherwise it is not legally denied or voided.

Example: A cold air intake Has nothing to do with faulty spark plugs and to pay the dealer $60 to change the plugs is a rip off.

Aren't the EVO 7 tails the same as the stock but they won't fit your car? They are wider...

Try talking to someone different and see if you can order through the delaer.. I think they are cool with some RMR products like their intake. Get the RRM piggyback, they won't know unless they start taking your car apart.

Edit: Also you can get the RRM bored out throttle body. The delear won't be able to tell since it looks exactly like the stock one ! This is a good reason for having 48k miles on my car, don't need to worry about warranty!

Turbo will probably run you in to problems with your transmission (the turbo kit just cranks one hell of a lot of power out--quite possibly enough to damage the damned things), and as far as engine claims, if anything breaks as a result of the turbo (ie:melted pistons, or god knows what else) expect to have your claim denied. As far as the dealership not knowing that you've returned it to stock, a lot of dealerships are becoming smarter and smarter--like mine--we're watching places like this for posts that say "OMG I RIPPED OFF MY DEALERSHIP SUKKERZZZ ROFL!!". I'm all for helping my local guys out, and we're fine with giving them deals, or whatever, but we DO NOT like to be ripped off--which is what you're doing if you do that.

As far as the CAI/CEL thing, yeah, it's possible. When you're letting that much more air in (the CAI tubing is usually a lot more conducive to flow than the stock airbox/piping), the ECU isn't expecting as much to come in, and so it detects a lean condition and flags the CEL. Only expect this if you're running WOT a lot, and even then it shouldn't be a big deal. That having been said, get your CELs checked out when they do happen--don't just take it for granted that it's your CAI's lean-ness that's doing it.

As far as intake and catback voiding your warantee A)that's bull B)that's really bull. You're not required to take it back to the dealer you purchased it from to get warantee work done, so go wherever you want, it's all up to you.

My car is still under warranty and my dealer installed the RPW camshaft. They don't really care, as long as they can report to Mitsu that the problem was "normal" and not caused by a mod. Some dealers seem to just wanna sell a car then wash their hands of it. Bastards.

1st of all we have 2 cat converters, so if you change your tail pipe it wont cause your CEL to go ff. 2nd, you could go as far as removing the rear cat converter and replacing it with a test pipe and after market exhaust and the CEL light WILL NOT TURN ON.
I've had a short ram, test pipe, racing exhaust set up forever and that light hasnt gone on.
If the aftermarket product has nothing to do with the damaged area then waranty applies. But that wont stop them from telling you different. You just have to be an informed consumer and thanks to these forums I am sure you are.

if the aftermarket product contributed to the damanged area, even though it's not there, can be blamed for the damage..

^--- it was said above that if you have a turbo, it makes double the HP and torque, and blows up your tranny, it's YOUR fault.. not covered

if you changed the head unit and the fuel pump dies, it's THEIR fault.. you are covered

btw.. do you know if the 04 RA or OZ has two cats? how can I tell?
