Lancer Oz Vs Mazdaspeed Protege
My OZ had Yokohama tires.
The body kit ain't gonna make the EX any faster either. I'd say it's more or less a driver's battle. No major difference in speed between the two cars.

c'mon! Can't some1 give me a better answer?!?..I want to know if I want to buy a Lancer Oz or Civic Ex!You can do more things with the civic right now but the lancer is nice!Don't know what to buy?
p took the words right out of my mouth. Upsides of the Civic: I'm pretty certain it's lighter. Obvious aftermarket following (despite it not responding as well as older models to bolt-ons)
As the starter of the Lancer vs RSX thread… let me clear up a few things…
The race has not been won yet. It will be stick versus stick, and there will be similar mods on both cars, as the other guy is wanting to wait until he has an intake and exhaust (for some reason, a 40 hp advantage isn’t enough for him… what’s that smell? Fear?). But, there are a few reasons I think I might win.
A) I’m stacking the deck, and he’s too dumb to realize it. I’m taking it out at a 1/8th mile track, where the iVTEC will not have enough time to make a substantial difference.
B) The Lancer has a more flat powerband, whereas the RSX has a rising one that spikes hard at the end, making for a high hp rating, but not a nearly even one.
C) The best recorded, proven, time I could find at clubRSX was 15.9 for a base. This car had EXTENSIVE natural aspiration mods… if I had most of them, I would have spent 2K on engine mods alone. All for a 15.9. He is one of four that have been able to put the base RSX into the high 15s. The rest report mid 16s. Much like, dah-da-da da! The Lancer.
D) I’m going to strip the interior. The RSX has 50 lbs on the ES (believe it or not, curb weight). He’s also wanting to desperately put together an AV set up… all in his trunk. Think lost traction to the front wheels, and more weight.
E) I’m the superior driver. He had a 50 hp with a 300ZX, and lost. He had a 60 hp advantage with turbo Bug, and it was dead even. I can out drive this guy, and unless he gets dramatically better in the next month or two, if the cars match up well, it’ll be over in a heartbeat.
Now, the problem with comparing this to a Mazdaspeed is that I can imagine that, even with the turbo, there will be a more even powerband. The iVTEC is pretty much turbo lag without the turbo. But, anyway, I think that comparing NA horsies to Turbo horsies is like comparing apples to oranges.

I'm not sure I am understanding what you are saying. Are you saying that a stock RSX is in the same league as the Protege because it has I-vtec.
I dont think so. The Protege has closer performance ties with the RSX type S, and it definately delivers to the goods to take it to the Lancer. Dont get me wrong, I am not knocking the Lancer, but your in 2 completely different league's here.

Can't Go Wrong With A Lancer
