Seat question

Ok, I was in Pep Boys the other day, and noticed that they carried a racing seat by a company called 3A. One of the seats was $179, and was pretty darn nice. They said that the seat would would fit a 2002 Eclipse directly.

Anyone have any idea what the difference is between the mounting locations between a 02 Lancer seat and a 02 Eclipse seat? How hard would it be to custom make a bracket?

Thanks for any help.

From what I hear, custom brackets aren't too hard to make, even from the stock brackets. I'm not too sure about those seats, though. I have seen them (I go into Pep Boys every month) and they are just like the APC stuff... questionable.

Out of curiousity, what makes them questionable? Besides the name, what makes one seat $300 each and another $150 each, if both are comfortable, why pay more? I've looked at some others (can't remember the name) at the speed shop that were around $200, plus brackets. I want the best bang for my hard earned buck, but I don't want to waste money either way.

Those 3A Racing seats are pretty comfortable, I sat in em at Pep Boys.
What would make the seats different is what they are made out of and how durable they are and what not. If you really don't want seats for racing, go with the Pep Boys ones for show (I'd get em reupholstered though :P)

the reason they are so cheap is usually because they are made more cheaply... such as stiching not being done as well or using sub-standard foam etc in the bolsters... sure they look pretty and might be comfortable now, but they might wear and conform to your body way quicker than the crappy stock seats do... just be careful of what you get... you aren't always just buying a name, you're buying quality... and 150 per doesnt sound like the best quality to me

My Corbeaus were about $700 for the pair..and I'm kicking myself for not getting Recaro or MOMO... Sure, would have paid more but the Corbeaus have not help up all that well. Not up to my quality standards. I will replace them when I get some cash...

So...I would be scared to see the quality of a seat costing LESS...
