alright folks this blows

here's the situation:

left saturday and went to beach, omw to pickup en1gma, i rail a curb in his poorly designed neighborhood and scratched the ever living shlt out of my front passenger rim, halfway around the entire rim.

now....so i inspect it and its not bent or anything like that, so we continue our trip and go to myrtle beach. well we pull into the hotel and my check engine light comes on and i'm like fawk!

and then on the way back to raleigh i hear a squeking noise come from the front passenger tire, only in like 1st-3rd gear, it goes away after i hit 4-5th gear so i know its not anything too serious. i mean it something was rubbing it would get louder the faster i went right?

and then the light itself is stressing me out, also on the trip i hit 29k so is it normal around 30k for the light to come on just for a general check-up?

 

No, the CEL won't throw for normal service. You may have damaged the axle or boot. It's really hard to say what the problem is, since you don't know the code. It could have been something long in the making, or it could be some new issue caused by the sideswipe.

Head off to the dealer. Let them have a look. Even if they say it's not a warranty repair, you need to know what you're dealing with.

 

you didnt hit the curb that hard did you?? i have funked up 2 of my rims trying to avoid 2 stupid lexus (next one i see i am just gonna hit it) and it just basically scratched off the surface of the rim...

me i had some problems with a squeaking noise when i turned and i went to the dealer and it was a mudflap that had cam loose so that shouldn't be to serious..

in regards to the check engine light it shouldn't be coming on, check all the fluids and basic stuff if you can't see anything wrong then deff take it to the dealer!!!! there shouldn't be any problems with the car since you just bought it and better for it to happen now then a few months from now...

hell my roomie nicci bought a used car and it broke down in AL like 2 months after she bought it, and instead of taking it to the dealer and being like take this peice of crap back she is still making payments on a car she can't drive and that isn't dair!!

 

well on my lunch i drove around, went got the car washed and just rolled around my job to test it out and the squeeks are gone

kept hitting redlights and doing 1st-3rd a few times and its not there anymore

i just want to make sure if i take to the stealership i am not actually using my warrenty to get it checked out

the warrenty i got in case something happened but i don't want to actually use it on anything trivial

i get 2k at the end of the warrenty if i haven't used it

 

squeaks might have just been from a bald spot from the tire rubbing the curb and now it's worn off. The CEL is probably unrelated though.

 

If you have a autozone around you take it there to find out the code....it is free there....I think the dealership charges 50-70 bucks just to check....I hate my mitsubishi service department.
