Try selling it then use that money for your down payment.

Dealers won't give you anything for aftermarket stuff, but someone buying it will usually look at that. You could probably sel it for $10,000.

funny how you started this thread. gives me a place to biitch and moan about how acura tried to rape me on my trade-in just last week.

Dealership: Acura

What Year of your lancer: 2002

Price Offered - Mods: $7500 [greddy, rrm intake, rims, springs, hid's, cedia headlights, alarm, etc.] i know they dont give more for mods, but they could have at least considered something like the alarm. i didnt feel like parting out because i wanted the car right away.

What you owe on the lancer: 12k

Mileage: 30k

Trans: AT

What Car You Wanted: 2004 rsx type-s

then they wanted $3500 down just to get the LEASE payments down to $435/month. so i just walked out on them.. oh and top it off, just for the rsx-s, i would have been paying $7900/year for my damn insurance premium. good thing i didnt get it huh?

This was back in April when I tried:

Mitsubishi
2003
$9000 - at the time, Tint, short shifter, AEM CAI
$13800 left to pay
only 11348 miles
Manual tranny
04 Ralliart

After doing all the math, in the long run, it would have cost us $10,000 to trade for the ralliart. We decided not to do it. Now I'm just modding my Lancer OZ.

If a dealer every offers you a lot for your trade-in, they're probably tacking it on the price of the car they're selling you. Bargain the price of the car FIRST (before even telling them you have a trade in), then bargain the trade in value LAST.

Also, most dealers won't give you crap for aftermarket mods. They look at wholesale Kelley Blue Book and that's it.

People are nuts thinking about trading their lancer, and they haven't paid more than 3 years on it. You'll be so upside on the payments that the dealership will gladly rape/play shell games with your bottomline.

Think about trade only when you are nearing the 4th year on your payment.
