Hey guys,
Well, finally figured out.. that its the turbo.. had my RRM turbo non-i/c set to 5psi.. raced an eclipse.. when i went on the off ramp.. suddenly lost boost.. i guess the turbo just went bad, or suddenly lost oil and it messed up the bearing.. lost oil pressure.. whatever.. i dont know..
I talked to RRM they said that garret will not warranty the turbo.. i talked to a local shop and they said that garret will not warranty it because it was improperly installed i.e. no watercool tap lines.. (But what i dont get is how have some peoeple with the same turbo have theirs running for two years and not have a propblem when mine went in 6 months..)
Anywayz.. i'm stuck at a junction where i have 3 choices.. and i would like your opinions...
1.) Go with RRM once again.. buy a garret t28 for $850.. reinstall it and fun times once again...
2.) Go with Endless Motivations(a local shop).. where for $1,500 they will give me a tripple a-pillar.. a/f and oil pressure gauge..(+ my boost gauge).. they will replace my turbo with a turbonetics t28(as opposed to the garret t28)... they will tap a water line for my turbo to be watercooled.. and they will give me a warranty for 1 year.. on the turbonetics turbo and the labor.. (they will also include new gaskets, new lines, etc. etc.)
3.) Return the car back to stock.. take the turbo kit(everything that it came with) sell it for 850 or so(another 850 for the turbo that the buyer can get through RRM) .. focus on college for the next 4 years.. and live a monotonous lifestyle of driving up and down I-80 until i can afford to buy an EVO X or something..
Plz feel free to reply to the post or vote.. thanks.. for all the support of RRM and Endless Motivations.. and hopefully i can get some guidance from you peoples about where to go from here...

Yeah, sell all the other stuff for $850 to ME !!! OR.... I have a garrett T-28 with less than 3K miles on it for $525 shipped ! It was on a Talon TSI before the timing got screwed up and the car has been sitting for like a year
I would have to say that if you have the $1500, go with the turbonetics deal - that way you get the waranty and everything that comes with it. If you dont have the $1500, I say sell the turbo - cut your losses and go from there. If you do decide to sell the kit, I WILL buy it so please PM me if that is the route you decide to go. Thanks and just wanted to give you my $.02

nice guys nice.. hehe.. well to let everyone know.. i'm still a student, however i managed to get quite a bit of scholarships so college won't be too stressful on the money side.. my financial situation is.. 17 year old enjoying summer before college.. with 1grand in the bank to spend(can't touch others.. its for a real rainy day.. not car stuff.. hehe) working 2 jobs.. the money for the turbo is not the real issue.. its do i still wanna pursue this expensive hobby.. but anywayz.. there's the financial.. now for teh stuff some peoples want to know...
i got my RRM non i/c kit 6 months ago.. installed by december 28, 2003 turbo failed on june 18, 2004.. so it had less than 6 full months.. the turbo was never abused.. always let cooled down.. some reason it just got bad.. so now i have all piping... new vacuum hoses.. new gaskets for everything.. new heat wrap(same type as what RRM supplied) and if i sell anything.. only thing i might need to exchange is fuel pump.. also.. everyone should know that the turbo is bad.. however i talked to RRM and they said 850 is price for a new garret t28 turbo manifold.. all turbo parts on the car has no more than 7000 miles on it.. all parts will be cleaned polished and properly wrapped if sold..
I also have on hand.. the new RRM header, and RRM testpipe to complement the turbo which will allow you to boost straigt to 7psi providing you have a boost controller and exhaust system.. the header was installed only 2 days before the turbo failed.. less than 200 miles on it.. the testpipe has about 1000 miles on it.. and i also have an autometer ultra lite silver face boost gauge - (used for only 10 miles to try and see what was going on with me car) ALL THESE ITEMS CAN BE SOLD WITH THE PIPING AND LINES OR SEPARTE.. ONLY THING THAT WILL COME TOGETHER IS THE KIT MINUS THE BAD TURBO..
One thing i would like to remind everyone is that, i am not sure which way i am going to go with my car.. so nothing is for sale as of yet.. but with the way things are going.. who knows.. there's a lot of stuff coming up for me.. and this hobby might be something i have to wait on til i graduate college.. but at the same time.. its a fun and interesting hobby so maybe i can stick it out.. thanks for all your help.. and the people who have PM'd me or posted before THIS POST.. i will PM you first if i am going to sell the kit.. prior to putting it on the private: for sale/wanted forum..
Thanks for the advice,
- Jose

You'll get a lot of enjoyment out of just buying a new turbo if the money isnt the problem... so I'd do that. The only problem with "this hobby" is where do you want to take it? I mean, look at the stock lancer vs. a turbo'd lancer! Turbo makes you go go, while a stock lancer runs 16's+
If you stop tuning at the turbo, is it worth spending the money AGAIN to get the car to as quick as it was a week ago when you had the turbo in and running well? Otherwise, sell the turbo kit and cut your losses... then move on to a new car once you finish college. Trust me bro, Im in the same boat as you... Im 1 year away from my bachelors and at times, I'd like to sell my lancer, drive a beater, and save my cash for an Evo MR.... Now that would be a fun car to build and tune as a hobby
In the end, the final say is yours - so whatever we all say may help some - but you'll need to mostly decide for yourself.

I've had my RRM IC'ed turbo kit in for over a year now, and I can't even fathom driving my car without it ( though I am gonna sell it in a year when I leave Hawaii and buy an Evo...
). If you got the money, go with the turbonetics deal, you get a hook up on gauges, and you get the warranty. It is really up to you, but if you love the boost like I do, I reccomend putting that biotch back together and get back to smoking WRXs and Mustang GTs..

did you have a turbo timer ? just buy a new turbo from road/race, and ifyou dont have a turbo timer get one, get that before you put the turbo in, im thinking you had no turbo timer and didnt let your turbo cool down after you turned it off (not just letting it run for a while after hard runs).
#2. $1,500 won't kill you, and you'll definitely get your money's worth in transport, not to mention enjoyment again.
You could have just been slightly low on oil and had slosh in the pan when you were turning. If that were the case your turbo may have been oil starved briefly, and the heat you built up from racing the Eclipse (tsk tsk) may have been sufficient to damage the turbine.
