Here ya go, these are pics of their OZ Rally equivalent:

http://www.5230.com.tw/carfla/virage/virage_2_1.html
http://www.5230.com.tw/carfla/virage/virage_3.html

The car has a DOHC 4G93 (1.8l 16Valve) engine that makes 140PS at 6500rpm, max torque comes at 5000rpm...

Yes, it's using the 4g93E (DOHC and DIS) and pumps out approx 135-140 HP.

To quote the queen of hearts, "Off with their heads!" (belts, ECU's and Harnesses too just in case)

I wonder if it's possible to do a group buy from Taiwan or a 4g93E market country with heads

Have fun doing the emissions mods to pass U.S. standards

I live in NJ not CA. We have 2 cats...I wouldn't be terribly concerned about emissions. It certainly won't be worse than turbocharging I don't think. I doubt it would affect emissions much at all. Besides that the air/fuel would be managed once I had the money. Unless I'm just not thinking of something (do tell cuz it happens plenty) I can't foresee any emissions concerns at all. Monitary concerns on the other hand...

You probably know more on the mod subject than me.
All I know is that Taiwan has comparatively lax emmission restriction laws...

I'd rather import a 6A12 MIVEC (2.0l DOHC V6) from the FTO. That could be a nightmare to install though, especially since I know next to nothing about engine swaps.

Don't tell anyone but uh...I don't know crap.

Anything I know is on these forums or how stuff works. If you think about it though you're still puttin the same amount of gas into the mix, burning the same amount of gas, and therefore expelling the same amount of flourocarbons and CO. Right? Makes sense to me at least.

Essentially you're just changing how the car handles the pistons moving up and down. The transfer is what changes, not the combustion. ...Right?

Question

You got me there, I wasn't even aware that you had to make changes to the pistons, etc. to make it work here...

I dunno. I hadn't thought about it, but I don't think it'd be necessary. Where are our Mirage tech heroes when we need em? Displacement doesn't change and fuel ratio shouldn't change much (if at all)...I dunno. It makes sense in my head at least, but that's not saying much.

I guess somebody beat me to it.

It's interesting to note that China Motors (CMC) is no longer the sole distributor of in Taiwan.
The only consolation is that does seem to have the technology to get more power out of its existing engines without adding to many mods or cost.

Olio skewl news. It's actually a good looking motor with twin cams. Then again, that's the case with all Mitsu motors comparing the SOHC V6's especially in the GT Eclipse and the DOHC ones from the 3KGT.

It's not necessary to change pistons (the lancer's piston head design should be flat, not domed or dished) . . . displacement should be the same since it is depended on bore and stroke.

It might change the CR since the 4g93E deck height might be the same as the US SOHC . . . the 4g94 may be slightly taller (eyeballed it not measured). No problem, just put in thicker head gasket.

Also, CMC lancer runs on 3 cats. If you're complaining about cali spec, 2 cats, try driving w/ 3.

Also, look at Proton Satria GTI. A different version of the 4g93E but faces the opposite direction.

This baby has turbo!!!! Enjoy. That's why the GSR is so wanted for its raity over the EVO . . . there are a lot more people driving 4g9x engines in the world than 4g6x engines!!

Yup, get your hands on the GSR exhaust manifold and bolt away to whichever mitsu TC.

BTW: the Proton is a good Malaysian company that has dominated its home market about 80%. Even, GM never had a strangle hold in the market, despite more competition on US shores. I do believed GM at most had 65% of their cars on the road in the past.

Great read about that Proton/Cyborg/Colt...whatever ya wanna call it where ever you are. Not a bad lookin' hatch albeit an SVT Focus would appeal to more. Mitsu needs to work on getting their batteries and other heavy tidbits closer to the wheels though. Looks to be a well rounded car albeit his choice of floor mats is less than desireable. Shame every other market gets more competent machines.
