Why a lancer?

I'm really damn confused on why buying a lancer and paying several thousand dollars and lots and lots of time to get it running a bit slower than any gt that's available.

could someone please explain this to me? am I missing some vital stat?

I can understand rice-ing it out, but proformance? why not just go buy stuff that you can actually get all the parts for already and not bother with getting that extra 4 horsepower out of a 500$ exhaust or 299$ for a core (with exchange) for a few more horsepower.

or even worse 3200-3800$ for a turbo... plus install and time waiting.

and no matter what... ITS NOT AN EVO.
it won't be an evo.

sorry end of rant.

well personally I cant afford an EVO, and I couldnt afford insurance on a EVO even if I got one miraculously... plus some people just like working on thier car, I know i do... even if its just cleaning stuff or painting things here and there, its just fun.

why not just go buy stuff that you can actually get all the parts for already and not bother with getting that extra 4 horsepower out of a 500$ exhaust or 299$ for a core (with exchange) for a few more horsepower.
do you mean a car that already has this stuff on it? again... we arent all independently wealthy.

or if you mean get a car that has the same parts available for cheaper (aka CIVIC) then shame. shame on you.

Good point pjal. Also I agree with bcustom I won't be able to afford an EVO, but hey, I'm happy with my Lancer and enjoy working on it. I may not have the money to do everything I want, but I'm saving for stuff.

You can't reeeeally argue his neons since according to him, rice'ing out the car is OK. He's curious as to why people put the pseudo-low buck mods on. Man...we're pretty well restrained here. I can't even imagine asking that question about a Civic DX at ClubSi...

Just to make you mad.

I don't think the vast majority of us here are trying to build evos. You can understand ricing, but not tuning? I just don't think you're giving the car, the tuners, or the aftermarket enough credit.

EDIT: This thread probably isn't going to last very long (it's going well so far at least) so if you guys wanna discuss then discuss. Don't let it get out of hand.

Insurance, low base price, not many cars wit aftermarket availabilty like you seek can seat 4 so comfortably and stylishly, it's different..I could continue with reasons to answer "Why a lancer?" Seems like you're just pissed that it's a struggle to mod this car and it's not as easy as a Civic, that's exactly why I got it. You should've asked this question before you got the car.
