drove an EVO VII
I can't really say much.
Most people know that the EVO will make it here, look for news from Mitsu on the 26th.
If you want to see the VII and some VI's in person and even get a ride, come to Laughlin NV in december for the Ramada International rally Presented by Mitsubishi, dec 13th-16th

not sure where you will get the news. I would look for a
press release on the Mitsubishi Motors site, under the cooporate section. When I hear of something I will post it on the forum.
From what I heard it should be the 280hp model.

Actually $30K wouldn't be bad. If you get a WRX with 227hp and no options you pay about $24.5K. That doesn't include a ground effects kit, rear spoiler, or custom welded chassis, and the car isn't really distinguishable from the 2.5RS IMO. The Evo sells for about $26K in Japan and makes more like 300+hp. If Mitsu is bringing a 280hp version, chances are it's the same car as in Japan, but running on US fuel. If that's the case, the we'll be getting one amazing car. This is a car that gets compared to Audi S4s and demolishes the them in Euro magazines.
I agree that the extra money you save with the WRX can go to mods to get the same 280hp, but then you've lost the factory warranty. If you don't care about that and would rather save the money then the Suby is probably the better choice.
It really would fit right in between the Subaru and the Audi at $30K. The biggest problem I see right now is the dealer markup that may occur.
