e-coating of backside of body panels.
e-coating of backside of body panels.
Recently my car was bumped resulting in a shallow dent 10-12" long in the driver's side rear door. The estimate for repair was $350. The repair involved pulling the panel and then repainting the area on the outside of the door, as well as spraying an epoxy of some kind on the inside of the door behind the dent.
The body guy told me there was an e-coating of the backside of the door panel and that even the shallow dent I had had compromised the coating and oxidation has already begun behind the door panel. I find this hard to believe (the fact that the door has begun oxidizing inside) and want to know if anyone has been told similar information.
Thanks.
