You're going to save gas by doing that. You're also going to destroy your transmission. Dropping the car into neutral and then engaging it back into gear while the car is moving will grind away the gears because the automatic has no clutch to ease the gears into position. So whatever gas anyone saves by coasting in an auto will definitely not amount to a transmission overhaul.
