Install Labor $$ for springs and turbo, overpriced?
Ok, I'm from Virginia and I just asked a shop how much for labor on turbo install, they gave me $2000 for labor and $1500 for spring install labor.
This doesn't include the springs and turbo! Is this right or am I just overreacting?
This is what they said:
2000 labor plus turbo. 2 weeks. 1500 good springs with install. no
weekends

I had a place quote me 150 per strut.. It took me all of .0003 seconds to tell them to go to hell and do it myself.
the how to is posted on my site, follow it and send me a dollar and use the rest on securing a lady for the evening =)
As for the Turbo, shop around or see if any turbo kids are in your area. You don't have to find a lancer turbo owner to know how to install it yourself.
Good luck

The proper spring compressor to change the springs was $15 at a local auto parts store near me. I used it when I put springs in my Eclipse, and will use it again when I do my RA.
If you were anywhere near me, I'd help you with the turbo install. I've done a few on DSMs. They're not that difficult, but they do take time to do properly.

hey thanks for the offer, it's so hard for me to install it myself since I don't have my own garage. But if I did, I would be playing around under the hood more than actually driving it. I'm a mechanic at heart as you could say. Yah I was laughing my a** off when he told me about the price! Might as well buy myself a stage 2 tubro? I have some friends that are mechanics so maybe they can help me out. I was just shopping around for options since I don't have much time on my hands.

for one, i'd like to say that i installed my stage 1 turbo in a few days (week or less) in my gravel driveway with the aid of a 2 ft. x 3 ft. slab of uneven concrete. so, i don't think you need a garage...just the right tools. also, i installed my coilovers wrong because i didn't have the instructions (temporarily lost them) so i went to a shop to see if they could tell me what went wrong to have them make noises. they told me an estimate of $350. i asked what they saw was wrong and they said that the parts were put on in the wrong order. they said that the charge was for 4 hrs of labor to take the coilovers off, redistribute the parts correctly, and put them back on. i practically laughed in their face. screw labor charges, i'll do it myself like i did the first time.

do they mean they will get you the tein full damper w/installation?
About having a garage, I'm just afraid it might rain if I didn't finish it and also worried about theft. I can't leave a car unassembled with all parts lying around and i kinda live in a ghetto neighborhood, picture a honda raised on bricks
.
