Greddy Exhaust

I know this information is old already but in the ImportTuner present issue says that a Greddy Exhaust will be out for the Lancer 2002 soon.... (FOund at the back cover) But i also wanna know what you Lancer tuners think about the Greddy exhaust?... Or Greddy the brand itself?... And is this a Jap brand?.. It is right?
**I just wanted to pump everyones excitement**

Greddy is well known and respected, but I wouldnt hold my breath that their products are going to have major performance benefits over other companies.

not only would there not be noticable differences in performance, but their prices are so inflated it's not even funny. do u know anyone willing to pay 500 bux for a cat back exhaust? i sure dont. the only thing i can say that will be great is the mandrel bent piping, and greddy mufflers usually sound very sweet

Couldnt agree more, you are paying high prices based on the name brand, not the amount of performance. Any mandrel bent exhaust in the diameter will give you the same performance, they just have Greddy etched on the muffler somewhere. There's nothing wrong with liking their products, or buying them. But there are cheaper alternatives.

There's still always Buschur and the VRS exhaust, and hopefully/eventually, the Road Race catback section.

$500 is a decent price for a catback!.. What do you guys think of the Tanabe Racing Super Medalion Catback??.. It goes for around $500 - $600. Cause the catback I have right now is kinda messed up so I was thinking about gettin a Tanabe??.. What do you think of the brand etc..

Yeah, me. You must be new to the tuner world. All the major catbacks from the top name tuners: (Apex'i, Greddy, HKS, Tanabe, etc) are around this price range, as was the Apex'i N-1 for my Eclipse. Actually, I got it for 479, I think. As was mentioned earlier, you do get what you pay for: mandrel bent piping, seamless (on some) stainless steel mufflers, great fit and finish, as well as 50 state legal noise and emissions. Or perhaps you mean who would want to pay $500 or so for perhaps 4-6hp on a car like a Lancer, when maybe a generic fart can with a crush bent $100 muffler shop pipe job will do? Again, see the reasons above. Somebody buying a Civic Si would pay the same thing, perhaps more and might get less of a gain since their car is already hard tuned from the factory. An econocar like a Lancer might gain more, especially when combined with a header, larger cat(or test pipe)

Buschur's stainless, resless, mandrel bent and clocks in at $350 before shipping. Better than paying for a name in my opinion. Despite my being lazy and not mounting it right (and therefore melting part of my bumper slightly) I have absolutely no regrets.

EDIT: Be thankful you're not buying a catback for something like a WRX. Check the prices on them bad boys.

American made

Perhaps. The mystique of a Japanese name does bring a premium. But until we can pass judgment it would be proper for somebody somewhere to do some dyno testing to see for sure.

Have you seen anyone with the OBX cat-back? Last I remember OBX prematurely said a lot of parts would fit the Lancers that turned out not to. I don't specifically remember the cat-back being one of them though.
