I hit 30K miles

I have a 2002 ES Lancer and I finally hit 30K miles. Is there anything special that I need to do as far as maintenance to the car? Do I need a tune up or replace the brakes?

well mitsubishi charges like 300 for a 30k mile tune up. but go somewhere else. i think they basically change your tranny fluid and check your other fluids. check your suspension bolts and all that and other stuff. there is a thread on this so you might wanna check

$300 bucks for a tune up? That's ridiculous!

Joe, I only feel comfortable being this blunt with you because you're an upstanding member who contributes a lot of good stuff to this forum, and therefore should know better...

This topic has been posted in a new thread 3 times in the last month. I replied to 2 of them stating what I saw on my dealer maintenance checklist. I also posted te same thing half a year ago, but that thread is probably buried by now. As for the $300, it does cover a lot, but it would cost less than half that if you did it all yourself. I know, that's what I did... and DON'T LET THEM CHARGE YOU $10 JUST TO FILL THE WINSHIELD WASHER FLUID!!! Stuff costs $1/gallon at Pep Boys!

Yeah that's true, but then again it depends on the dealership. My dealership took care of my 2 warranty needs even though the only maintenance they have on record (and done by an ASE mechanic) is the 15k service. No matter now, as my warranty's up (unlike 1000km boy up there )

I got 3 years oil change as long as the other matienance is done there. The sales man said not every scheduled matienance had to be done there but they encourage it of course. Im thinking that the tire rotation they do is just making up for the free oil change. who swaps there tires after 3,000miles anyway?

Umm, yeah, they're finding a way to squeeze something out of you, especially since the owners manual only says to rotate your tires every 7,500 miles (ironically, it also says 3,750 for an oil change, probably to make sure everything adds up so you have 3,750 at the same time as 7,500 which happens at the same time as 15,000, 30,000, and 60,000 as well)
