How to install side skirts. Need Input

Hey I have a 2002 Lancer ES and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to install the OZ side skirts. The top of the skirts have clips, Do I drill holes for these clips or do I need a moldind for them to clip into. If I need to drill holes does anyone have a link to a drill patern or size holes to drill. Thanks any input will be helpful.

you should have holes. If you look under your car along the sides you should have little black plastic brackets that already have holes in them to accept side skirts. At least my 03 ES does.
I would also recommend running a strip or two of outdoor use double sided tape as a precautionary method. This way those side skirts will not come off.

So do I drill holes in the body so that these plastic clips can go into the brackets you are talking about?

no, there is no drilling needed. If you go outside and look under your car along the sides where the side skirts would go, you should see little holes already in place ready to accept a side skirt.

These holes are in the center of smaller plastic oval shaped pieces. Due to the fact that the ES, LS and OZ are very very similair looking design wise I believe mitsu makes them all factory ready to accept side skirts and then depending on what trim model they get made into, they recieve side skirts or they dont.

HELP.... Is there anyone out there with a OZ that can look at thier car and see how these are mounted. I see the bolt holes under the car and in the wheel well, but what about under the door? What holds the visibal part of the side skirt flush to the body?

the stock side skirts do not overlap onto the doorsills....if there are already holes on the bottom form the fcaotry they should be sufficient enough to hold them tight against the body...

Yes I understand all of this. The SS is shaped like a "L" The bottom bolts under the car but there are clips on the top o the "L" that look like they go into a molding or holes on the car right under the door? Does anyone know if there are drilled holes or a molding on their OZ.

I think you will have to drill holes in your body to fit the mounts for the skirt.. I just took off my OZ skirts, so Ill send you a pic of what it looks like w/o the skirts... a bunch of holes...

those holes only exist on the OZ models i believe (unless you drill it like you did). Those are the ones that are directly underneath the doors but are visible without getting down under the car. The ones I was talking about actually require you to lay down under the car and the side skirts go straight upward into the holes. I'll try to take pics in a bit since its sunny out to show what im talking about.

All the ES guys that I know of that installed OZ skirts used the stock holes underneath the car and then where you drilled holes just used a large amount of double stick tape. I've never heard any complaints of the skirts coming off so I dont think drilling for the side pins is necessary.

yea, Im sure you will be fine with just double sided tape... every set of skirts i have put on before, that is what I used... and the 2 screws on each end...
