Oil Filter Burden.

How would you come about taking a jammed oil filter?

My situation? I was getting ready to remove the old oil filter when I noticed that the damn thing had a dent on it. It must have been a good 3/8" deep. The crown that I had didn't work on pulling the oil filter out. It seemed like the oil filter was just a tad too short. I tried to use some rubber undercoating on the sides of the oil oilfilter and some sandpaper in the crown to see if I could get it off. That didn't work either. So I ended up resolving the damn thing this morning by jamming a screw driver into it and MacGuyver-ing the damn thing out.

What I'm asking is- Has this ever happened to any of you? If so- tell us on what you had to do to get it off

happened to me, and i just used the so called "MacGuyver" method, actually happened to me a few times. screw driver or other pointy object is the only thing w/ enough grip it appears. that is unless you are like hulk hogan or something

pipe wrench that has an adjustable clamp size is fool proof if it will fit. otherwsie socket set awith the plastic caps works too.....if all else fails and u tear the filter or something and lal u have left is the part that screws in....well....ur s.o.l.
