How often do i need to change a filter in a SRI?

I just bought a Short Ram Intake system, its some cheap brand (Bomz), but it says it has a reuseable filter. How often do i need to change/clean the filter, and do i just clean it out with plain water or what?

if you have a bomz filter dont even bother cleaning it, its junk. just go spend a little extra and save your motor by getting either a green's or a k&n universal 3" cone filter. costs between 40-80 dollars depending on what and where you go. cheap filters are ways to just ruin your motor and dirty your oil, do a search on how cheap filters arent worth cleaning on yahoo or something.
sorry if i sound harsh but this is how it is, ask any knowledgable source, I.E.:boe or rock.

Yeah first off, buy yourself a good filter, K&N is great, I have one on my RRM intake and its great. Depending on where you live, it'll take anywhere from 6 months to a year for the filter to get dirty.

Oh yeah, i didnt feel like i was experienced enough to actually install this, so i took it to a car shop. They put it in for me, i have a question and a comment. They said the part didnt fit perfectly, which is wierd since it was built for a 2004 Lancer ES, but oh well. The only thing is now its a little flimsy, i can push it down and it moves down a little bit. Is it supposed to be flimsy, or is it supposed to be stiffly installed in there?
