update: im having trouble putting resin onto bigger pieces, say the armrest. the resin goes over the top, but when it comes to the sides it gets all jacked up. doesnt wanna go down uniformly. well, ill try other stuff, wish me luck

wow this is awesome... didnt know you could do this kind of custom/DIY CF work

btw to clarify, for your fabric, did you get the "5.5oz 1st Quality Carbon/Kevlar Hybrid [BLACK/BLUE]" or is there some other blue CF fabric on the site? (that i havent seen yet)

also, i cant fully tell from the picture, but can you only see the blue part when you have the right angle? (and the rest looks black or like normal CF) or does it have a blue color throughout?

this is a great idea - keep up the good work!

So.. you just goop the resin stuff all over the part you are doing after you spray glue it to the part you want in carbon fiber? When it comes to pieces with contours can you help it a little bit by spreading it with a knife.. or would it screw up the finish? Seems like the stuff would run and cake up. Or is it all in the technique of mixing it so it is kinda thin, and then sets up to harden later?

well its all the same when mixed. it spreads evenly where gravity has the advantage. but like on contours it tends to thin out more than flat pieces. im trying to figure out how to manipulate it.

UPDATE. finished the armrest, and gained experience. i defintaly will be practicing alot more. this is a delicate process. oh and after this is all done, i would like to add that you will also need a "sqeegee" or a brush to even out the coat while its wet.
