HOW TO: Remove the lower left exhaust manifold 14mm Nut!
Words dont explain this well, so I did some editing, and here is what i came up with. I hope this can get sticky'd. Many people ask about this.

This is by far the easiest way. no bending, no messing w/ belts(power steering). Just Get Ur' Dun!

I don't know why people get so cranky about that lower left nut?
All you have to do is use a regular combination wrench on that left nut. While standing in front of the car, slip the wrench between the exhaust manifold runners just like the diagram above shows. You don't need any rope! Use your finger. I used the middle one. Pull the wrench up and that's it. There's enough room.
Cutting, braking, bending, rope, what for?
And yes, this method works on both, stock and aftermarket header.

DJ, i think it is because we all disagree on methods. IMO there is nothing wrong with that BUT maybe we could get a thread going strictly of different methods so we can close the other threads...maybe even sticky it and make a seperate page for Q & A ???? that way we can all get a fair presentaion of EVERY method and let users decide for themselves which method they desire to use most and which suites their needs the best.
Ex) the first time i had to remove that nut, i found myself on the boards looking for a short cut. i found the rope/wrench trick and realized "crap! i don't have a rope!" nor was i good with knots of any sort other than a inside & outside bowline, half hitch, and a shoe tying knot. so this method did not work for me. then i read about people bending or cutting the sheild for the cover which was not looking great either. a friend gave the idea of removing the power steering pump, which is obviously way more work than needed (but if that's your choice i can respect that). in turn, i decided to simply unbolt the timing belt cover and sheild. this method worked for me because i thought the cover was tacky and i understood how frequently that bolt would come off in my scenerio.
obviously there are several methods. we all have to pick and choose. unfortunately it is hard to gain ANY useful information the way the past threads have been on this. it has mostly been arguing, sarcasm, or other useless garbage. what do you say we all put our heads together and come up with either some more diagrams like EARSLIKEANELF did (props to you and your hard work), or atleast contribute a decent write-up/explantion so that we can make an end-all, be-all thread on this "issue"???
i apologize if this seems like i am ranting and raving. i just feel that sometimes it is a bit redundant like DJ said. this is just my 2cents on how i feel we can help each other out.
