I think he means don't try to use heat to help the paint dry faster

bake it in the oven. makesure you remove all electrical **** like HID box, bulbs, harness, etc. here's the link how to. also the headlight is very strong. so if you melt it you're an idiot
i skip the sanding/primar part.

YESSSS- Friggin happy I am DIZ-UN with the DIY black out of my 04 headlights....will post pics once I take her to the car wash to get clean-er....supposed to rain today but a quick rinse and some pics this afternoon should be in order...btw THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER for anyone that gave advice and had a DIY dedicated to this epic battle. I used the oven method (275 for 4 minutes) had to stick each headlight in 4 times each and pried SLOWLY. Thanks again all.....now my only concern is fogging

WTf ?? use 225 degree for about 17 minutes. remember to preheat the oven first.

Newly Blacked Out

NOW...
Came out alright I think. Oven method blows away the hair dryer method, IMO. I did this plus re-painted calipers red, my sissy drums black, and installed my new ICON 18's in a matter of 8 hours with some beer and tv mixed in while waiting for paint to dry. Yes I took my time and think it was well worth me being slow and careful. Oh and I painted over the amber surfboard looking turn signal (SHHH dont tell the coppers)

no fogging issues so far after approx. 24 hours. I even washed my car today...so far so good. Although it was frustrating and took some time and patience it was well worth the effort.

That looks great. Too bad you cant replace that amber piece in there. I know its possible but a lot of work cutting a clear replacement piece. I my black out my stock headlights and sell them on here. Or just use them over the ones I bought because those look way better than mine.

Yah I thought about doing something with that amber piece but figured it would've taken a bit more time and effort. At that point I figured it would be better without it completely. Definitely improved the front end 500% - did take it to the wash and it didnt fog..I was crossing my fingers the whole time and gritting my teeth.

You could do whatever color you wanted. I am sure if you color matched them that they would look great.
