No more spoiler =/

when i first bought my car from my uncle it was crapped all over and there were holes in the trunk from an aftermarket gay spoiler that was taken removed before it was sold. my uncle said he would fill them in for me before i bought the car and when i went to pick it up the next few days there were no holes and it was painted (i guess). I couldnt tell the difference from the colors or marks or anything, it was like they were never there.

now i have an evo 7 spoiler on my lancer and am tired of it, before i ask my uncle how he did it, maybe you guys have some opinions on how to fill/point the holes. i might have some of the white paint sitting around from when i painted the spoiler but what did he do? put in some puddy or something and spray it?

i want this thing off before i get my new tail lights so help me out here if you have done this before

yeah bondo is a very popular amongs the ricers. they use this product often to repair cracks or make the cheap ebay body kits to fit their cars. its a "cement" for metal.

i'd use grommets over bondo. if you were going to use bondo i'd fiberglass either side of the hole and make a bondo sandwich by putting the bondo in the middle and the fiberglass on top and underneath. this way the bondo won't crack, shrink, or get pushed through the hole.

that's what my trunk looks like with a grommet that i painted with some color-matched paint.

here's another shot:

Body shops also use it to fix/fill spots before paint. It's not just a ricer tool.

Good point. Bondo is really easy to use.

It's just a cream with a red hardener. You mix both together, and start applying. It will take about 5-10 mins for the bondo to get hard after you mix the hardener in.

You can find Bondo at AutoZone, PepBoys, etc. I believe the Med can is about $20. Not sure about a small thou.

I had to use Bondo on my car. I guess if you consider my car Ricey, then you have issues . Alot of good shops use bondo. You just don't know it.

You're not using bondo... you're using it's knockoff "obnod".

so I use the obnod and put it in the hole, flatten it out with a ruler or something, then after its dry just sand it down and paint overtop?

good stuff, i will use on the holes where my fog lights used to be

thanx

ps will i need to use some sort of special primer before i paint?

Well, you can't just put it in the hole. You have to have something behind it so it sets up (otherwise it'll fall through the hole). A ruler is kinda low-tech. I think you get a smoothing tool in the container.

Any primer should be fine, yeah.

How mine was done in the middle hole was a piece of metal was welded on the underneath part of the trunk lid. Then filler to fill the hole (duh). Then a final layer of fiberglass was laid on top (dries smoother). Then final prep on the entire trunk (sanding & primer). Then spray away...
