Going to get my first oil change soon at 3000km with Mobile 1. Anyone know if there's anything to be worried about if I do decide to switch to Royal Purple later on?

$ wise, it's probably about $10 difference... but if M1 is good enough, I'll probably stick with it and stock up when it goes on sale at walmart.

You can always re-anneal the crash washer with a propane torch. Ive been doing it for years on my bikes and cars. Never had a leaker (knock on wood) nah do it right and you don’t need luck.

Acouple questions that have to do with oil changes.

1. Is it ok to use semi senthetic 5 w 20?

2.After my last oil change the oil filter was defective and slowly leaking. I brought it back and he swaped out for a new oil filter. He didnt top of the oil because he said it was still good and now my dip stick is at about 70 percent up to the FULL mark.
Should i be concerned?
Thanks guys

80K miles on the Lancer.
No problems.
All maintenance (including oil) done myself (documented with receipts in case it ever matters) and as per Mitsu's recommended intervals.
All oil changes done with Mobil 1 5W-20.

FWIW, when I met my wife she had a '94 Toyota Pickup. I did the oil changes with regular oil every 5K miles. The truck went over 300K miles with no engine issues AT ALL until it blew a head gasket. At that point we donated the truck.

My wife now drives an '03 Toyota Tacoma that has passed 310K miles. No engine issues AT ALL! I did the dinosaur oil every 5K miles up to 300K; now I'm using Mobil 1 every 5K in that truck. Will it make a difference? Who knows, but we're shooting for 500K.

I had an '86 Porsche 944 that I bought at 113K miles and sold at 260K miles. While I had the car it got Mobil 1 every 5K miles. I never had a problem with that motor.

Not a scientific study, but Mobil 1 has worked for me. I also use it in my Suburban, my Boxster, and the 924S that I picked up last year. The 'Burb has over 100K miles with no engine troubles. The Boxster and 924S have just 45K and 56K miles, respectively.

Every car/truck I've ever owned has an acceptable range for the oil level clearly marked on the dipstick. On my '08 Lancer there are two holes that show the range. If the oil level (measured with the oil having had enough time to drain into the pan) is between the marks, then all is good.

By saying "70 percent full" do you mean that the oil level is below the "low" fill mark? If so, then you need to add oil. If it is 70% between the low and high marks, then you're fine.

Just did an oil change on the wife's car yesterday. She has an 08 DE with 104,2xx on the clock. Replaced the brakes and rotors (100k + miles on OEM brakes is NOT reccomended BTW lol) and installed new bosch spark plugs. Used Penzoil high mileage 10w-30 and a bosch oil filter. Ol pig runs like a top now.

I'm partial to ngk plugs but got the iridiums. so far i like em.
