Moleskin - who tried it??
You need to install the moleskin on both weather strips like in the picture below.
The ONLY way you could still get scratches with felt is if you managed to get huge rocks jammed in there. The felt is the same as OEM. You would have had scratches with OEM felt too.
UNLESS you used the cheap generic moleskin that is floating around. MAKE SURE you use the Tint Protector Felt. It's the only one produced just to prevent tint scratches. The generic crap is for home windows. Its cheap crap.

ok so obviously the 2010's DO NOT need this because they already had felt on there when i pulled them off, so waste of money.
i bought the car new so no chance that it was put on by somebody else. This is from the factory.

I had it done, it took me like 2hrs atmost, here's a tip, when your done unscrewing the 3 screws, DON'T force out your inner side panel, just force it enough it pull out your weather strip. And have a friend with you too, it makes thing easier, also take your time!
Are 2010 Evo's equipped with oem felts?
fwiw, i spoke to the tint shop today, told them i was bringing in a 2010 Evo and also asked if i should install moleskin protector strip -- they said the car already comes with oem felt strips and i would not need to put anything else in... can anyone else confirm this, thx!
Moleskin definitely helps, but is not a perfect solution. You will still get scratches over time no matter what you do, but it will take much much longer than without felt.
I installed moleskin the day after getting my tint done, and my tint has held up great for a good 8 months or so, but I can definitely start to see some scratches developing.
The other issue with moleskin is that the glue does not hold up well in high temperatures. People say glue streaks are the result of bad installation, but I promise you this is not the only case. I carefully installed my moleskin exactly to specifications at night and had no glue problems after testing all of my windows over and over. However, the next day after my car had been sitting in the sun (I live in las vegas, it gets to be well over 100 degrees out in summer) my gf rolled down my passenger window only to have glue streaked all over it when it came back up. I honestly opened my door at drive throughs for a month because I was so scared it would happen to my driver side window. I no longer seem to have this issue however so I guess it's only risky when newly installed.
Long story short, moleskin will not protect your windows forever, and for the love of god do not roll down your windows for a while after install if your car is going to be sitting in some hot temperatures, the glue will melt and f up your tint.

I've had Tint Protector felt on three of my cars for over four years with NO scratches whatsoever.
The glue has held up fine and I'm in Florida!

THx for advice on moleskin. UPDATE: Took my car in for tinting - the installer looked inside the door and confirmed that there is a felt on the inside edge of the window (where tint is applied), said there was no need to add anything else. So it seems the 2010s may not need moleskin.
