Headlight/Taillight film...

I was definitely thinking that some black film might look good over the headlights and taillights of our cars. However, I'm worried that the ridiculous police force in town will write me a ticket. How do you all feel about those? I'm more interested in covering the tails rather than the headlights since I hate the pinkish look of them.

Illegal? Legal? Stupid? None of the above? Post up.

Im pretty sure its illegal in most areas. I like the blacked out lights but my insurance is already $165 a month. I don't need it raised because of some dumb ticket for having my tail lights blacked out. If you think it is worth the ticket and you like them, get it done. You can't count on not getting a ticket because it could happen. Good luck.

What about a light smoke? Not completely blacked out, but noticeably darker?

And I'm sure red outs are okay, right?

Read up on your city, county, and state laws first...then report back.

Sigh...

"...Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that taillamps on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear...".

Found that on a Police Forum.

traffic laws are different for every county, city, or state. make sure you check what the laws are where you live.

So does that mean our gay stock pink taillights are illegal?

(Yes, I know they're just a light red. But it annoys me. )

I noticed that! I always point that out on other cars...hopefully by the time the GSX comes out there will be aftermarket/non-pink ones.

I have my heads tinted. At night right next to a normal car, there is a slight difference but nothing a cop will be able to tell...especially at nite. tails I think ppl can get away with, the lamps shall be red in color...but agian....u think cops are gonna be able to tell at nite?. IMo I would wait for aftermarket tail lights that suite the blackness that you need.

That's exactly what that means!

Thanks for the input everyone. Maybe BlueBatmobile or someone will come out with some overlays to anti-gay our pink tail lights.

Tinted my tail lights on my blue gts. Screwed up and ended up with wrinkles, but I think i'll just do them again later on. Just wanted to see how it would look.

edit: That's tint film. Seller states around 85% light comes through.
