heaviest foot in these forums??

I've seen people post that they average about 20-29 mpg on a normal day, I dont know it its how I drive or what but I average about 13-17 mpg I dont floor it I believe I keep my rpm's at about 2-4. So I dont know whats going on sometimes I think my mpg display is off, lets hope not anyone else having this problem also? oh btw i have the gts cvt. thanks.

Well, floor it at every single light, and i put my RPMs >4k around every turn (my method is slow down to 20, make the turn, while turning hit the stick down to 1st, and get the hell out )

My Average MPG is between 22-24, ONCE i got 17 and almost made doody in my drawrs and thought there might be a problem with my car. but next time it went back up again. I dont see how people can get 30+ in this car... even on my 200mi trip to orlando i only got like 25mpg cruising at 80ish. They must baby their car hardcore and do about 5 under the speed limits

Don't use the stupid MPG meter on the car. Divide the miles per tank by the gallons you used (gotta fill up for this to work, obviously). That gets you a truer number.

doesn't matter, just look at how many gallons you put in at the gas station. You obviously won't run it completely empty anyway

I average 16.6 mpg and my RPMs never go above 3k........ What am i doing wrong, have I been driving the wrong way my whole life or something? Is there a secret Lancer club dedicated to driving fuel efficiently? I have a GTS CVT btw, average max speed I go is about 65, so its not because I'm flooring it.

According to Mitsubishi.com specification, the tank holds up to 15.3 gallons (about 59 liters).

Do not use the MPG estimator on the display. Just figure out your average when you fill up. The estimator is way off. It usually says i average about 20mpg. My actual average is about 25mpg.

I drive happy medium between all out and conservative and I get 19-21 mpg. I use the true method of filling up and dividing gallons into miles on tripometer. I thought the gas tank held approx. 14 gal.

Another topic about this? Yeesh.

My best is 33.4 or so, and my average is around 24 or 25. City. The 33 was highway. My best city was like 31 I think.

I have the CVT, GTS, and I don't baby it. I rev it, I beat on it a little, but when I want to save my MPG, I never rev above like 2000...that's how I got the 31 in the city. I also got lucky and didn't have to stop almost the whole trip. If you drive like your foot is made of led, don't expect to get the best efficiency out of any car. It really blows my mind that you expected to.
