Dash to display song names etc
i read in the manual about the dash is able to read the names of the songs etc. however it doesnt say how to do this. it also mentioned it can play CDRWs?
i am thinking you need to edit the ID (v3) tags on the songs and burn them as a cdrw. Im not to sure.
Any help? because I just LOVE seeing 'Track 1' on my dash all the time instead of '<insert song name here>'
Thanks.

when making an audio cd rom in nero you can put track info in.
for mp3s, download tagscanner

convert all id3v2 info into id3v1. i think this is optional but i delete id3v2 info just incase.
the manual says mp3s can use id3v2 but they never work for me.

OK. Have you hit the "Display" button to get to that screen? When you get there, does it have the song's title, or does it say something else?
If you're on an MP3 CD, it's going to read the track titles straight from the file name. So you have to make sure you name each file with the track title. Then it'll work fine. I have an MP3 CD in my car now, and it'll show each file name (up to 12 letters...

i just got done burning a cd. i went out and tried it. i hit the disp button and i got NO TITLE. they are all .mp3 format and i got a tag editor and made sure the right information was there too.
should i burn it as a data disc with mp3s on it and try that?

it is because CD format does not normally embeds their names to it... cuz CD-technology is outdated anyways...
FYI, if a CD does contain the song title, it is called "CD-text", developed by sony.. however, u cant put album, artist, album year and so on... cuz as i said b4, this tech is backwards
whereas in mp3, the id3 tag allows u to put those info cuz this is what mp3 was partially designed for, and refined over the years

Yes, it HAS to be a data CD. If you burn it as a normal music CD, the car won't recognize the mp3 titles.
