Door Mounting Depth
Ok heres a question for you guys..
I bought the mmc650 from crutchfield.. The website said they don't fit in our doors.. I called a tech and he said that the reason why crutchfield would say they don't fit in our doors is because they only measure the mounting depth of the stock speaker and not the actual door.. So if the after market speaker is deeper then the stock speaker they will say it wont fit because they don't measure the door.. Does anyone know the mounting depth availability of the door.. I don't need the specs on the speaker.. I think this might not be information able to be found but its worth a shot.. I hope you guys understand what I am asking..
Thank You
-Dave

I don't know the exact mounting depth but it is extremely shallow. You will have to use some sort of spacer.
I installed Polk DB6501's which have a top mounting depth of 1 11/16" (pretty shallow) and they still required a lot of spacing. Those particular speakers came with a 1/4" spacer which I augmented with the rubber from a cheap pair of flip flops. Get a pair of $2 flip flops from Walmart and tape/glue the rubber to the bottom of the speaker. It's easy to cut and provides shock absorption so the speakers don't rattle against the metal door.
