im planning on buying a new car this year and im looking at the Lancer GTS the thing is iv been reading alot of different things abou it and i wanted to know what the people that actualy own a GTS think about it.

so here goes.

1- should i wait for the 09 to come out with the 2.4l ?

2- what is the deal with the CVT should i spend the money on it or get the MT?

its mostly of commuting and a fun drive on the weekend, i dont plan on doing alot of millage and i wont be adding or modifing alot of stuff on it.

then the only hard question left will be what color im going to take it :P

1- this car looks really awesome but it lacks ***** real bad, so i suggest you just wait for a 2.4l (is gona release one? did u ask your dealer?) version to come out/wait for the RA. If you don't really need the power, just get the GTS, It's an ok car as far as power is concerned.

2- I have the CVT and i regret it. The CVT is really well made but it would be much more fun if the car was actually powerful. But since its not, and you only wana drive it on the weekend --> GO FOR STICK! (its faster too, cuz in cvt gear 1 and 2 are slow as hell).
--> If you still want the CVT you can buy mine cuz i wana trade it for a MT :P

Seriously, i don't really like my CVT and almost never use my paddle shifters, but if what you want is a smooth ride, get CVT.

Oh, and for the color...In my opinion, wicked white and the grey color are the best looking. But thats just me tho. Rally red is pretty close too.

P.s : It really makes me sad to say this as a owner but Subaru gives you more for the money...(exept looks tho )
For the same price as the GTS you can get the new Subie with a 2.4L engine and AWD.
But then again, the GTS is a legit car too. Your choice!

 

My vote is stick with the 2008 CVT.
or a 2009 ES CVT.

there will be more performance mods made availible for the 2.0 Class, the 2009 GTS will be by itself, and since it will be an even further distant cousin of the EVO X, the cost of (some) mods will be higher.

thats my two cents. But when you look at it. the extra 11 or so hp is disapointing. I would have expected something closer to 190 if they had done a little bite more optimizing.

Fuel economy maybe lower, but thats only speculation, but it loks to me that the 2.4 isnt optimized to take advantage of the extra 400 cc

hey alex yea right now im thinking 2008 MT either red, black, or graphite

i might wait just a bit to get a confirmation on the changes for the 2009 model but for a 11hp i dont think i want to wait for 6+ extra months. my wife is keeping me on a strict budjet so the RA might be out of the question ... unless i get real lucky with a 6/49 :P

1- if you are never planning to mod the engine performance, you may as well as go for 2.4l.. considering GTS in canada right now takes at least 3 month waiting, i dont think you have a choice for 2008 gts anyway.

2- if you drive MT, stick to it. cvt is a comfort ride but MT is more fun.

3- Black, White, Red,
White looks best from far; but it doesnt shine. (i would choose white)
Black look best overall, but it gets dirty way too easily and the detailing is a pain in tha *** to do. (my color; kinda regretted)
Red is unique, but i like rally red better.


anything BUT SILVER will look good! (my personal opinion; not disrespecting anybody with a silver gts. sorry sheep! at least u got one of a kind)

 

yea well i dont drive MT but im working on it, but CVT looks apealing because my wife might be driving it also and and it would make it a more family friendly car.

as for the 08 -09 ... im going to go visit some dealers and see what the delay on a GTS is and if its still 3months + i will be sad ... but it might push me to wait for the 09 ...

does anyone know when the plan on releasing the 09 model in canada? i wasent really following the release of the 08 i just found out about it in oct. seems like it was pretty early.

 

 

well if you drive stick, drive stick... cvt just gives you a perfectly smooth ride, but it really suck on 1, 2gear (or early gear ratios) also, DONT count on the paddle shift ... it is just a toy and it is only good when u use engine break driveing downhill and it controls it well.

colour.... it is totally your preference, but bear in mind, black is a high-maintance color... it gets easily dirty , to make the case worse lancer paint is hair thin and will easily get stretched.... so think twice b4 getting black

 

blue is the best color by far white is 2nd best and graphite.. 08 GTS is cool i wouldnt wanna wait..

It depends. The upcoming Ralliart will have the same 2.4L engine as the 09 GTS, only fitted with a turbo. The NA 2.0 and 2.4L guys could both end up with a strong parts market, especially getting 2nd hand stuff from Ralliart/Evo owners who upgrade.

we where going to go with graphite ... until we saw the red in person and well we just couldent resist

 

Congrats! I'm jealous of you on the color - I love my Silver, but Rally Red draws me in everytime I see the new commercial!
