winter driving...
my oz is my only car so unless i find a beater i'm going to be driving it in the snow and what have you. i was just wondering if anyone had any experience driving in snow conditions all winter long and how their lancer fared?
I've got an OZ and it rips in the snow! I've got studded snow tires to so that helps. If you can look on Craigslist for your area and try to find a cheap pair of snow tires for the front. It helps SOOOOO much! Other than that just be careful!
Only drive as fast as you can stop.

Hello there.
I live in Quebec, Canada and I drive my car in snow for almost 6 months a year sometimes and winter safety depends on two things: Driving skills and tires. First, driving skills is perhaps the most important thing during the winter, you have to know how you car behaves. Find an empty parking lot and pratice hard turns, regaining control after slipping and emergency braking. If you have ABS(I don't and I like it that way) learn how it affects stopping on ice or in the snow. If you don't have ABS like me, pump the brakes when stopping on ice and I suggest just ramming the brakes when youre on snow. People may argue about this but from experience, locking the tires help the snow create a wedge in front of the tires stopping the car faster, but you have to keep control.
As far as tires go, it depends on where you live. If your roads are icy, use tires specialised for ice. A good choice would be a set of Michelin X-ice for example. If you're worried about snow, I suggest looking for a set of tires with a very deep and aggressive thread. The best tires I've ever had are Nokian hakkapelita 2, excelent snow tires. But if you want the best of both worlds, just get studded tires but check your state regulations about them.
From youre profile I see you live in New York, I suspect it is very humid and icy roads must be very common.
Drive safe and have fun!

yea, i think i def should get studded tires. it makes sense that just getting a pair for the front would be sufficient enough. and that's a great idea about practicing in an empty parking lot. i never thought about that. i haven't run into too many ice situations, but a good amount of snowy roads. thanks for the input guys.
