Window Tint

How many people here that have tinted their windows have actually went so far as to use the moleskin products such as:

http://www.tintprotector.com/mitsubishi/index.htm

Those who have and those who haven't, in your opinion is it worth it to spend the extra money before getting windows tinted?

Thanks

From what I have heard, Mitsubishi doesn't put it on when they build the 08 Lancers. My tint was on the car when I bought it and in perfect shape. Within 5 months I had scratches from the top down to the bottom. I just had the dealership replace the tint and hopefully they put somekind of felt or moleskin on to prevent it from happening again. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

So, you bought your lancer from a dealership with the windows already tinted? Wow, bet that added an arm and a leg extra to the cost. I just can't imagine a 'stealership' adding something like that for cheap. Atleast they are replacing it tho, props on that.

So it definately sounds like the moleskin mod is a must for tint....

Any more opinions/stories?

I don't have tint myself, but I know that plenty of people here who do needed to get the moleskin or something similar. The way that Mitsu made the lancers, the rubber sealing around the windows is very rough and will scrape the tint off the windows after a few times of rolling them down and up. I know that when I get my tint done I'm going to pay the few extra bucks for the moleskin.

I would get the moleskin. My windows aren't physically scratched, but I get lines on the windows from raising/lowering them. I'm sure that would destroy any tint.

I tinted my windows, rolled down the drivers window, and it scratched right away. I got my windows tinted at a friend's shop in exchange for doing them computer work -- they even put scratch-resistant tint on. The scratches are barely noticable, but you can definitely feel them.

I then bought the moleskin kit, it was fairly easy to install (getting the door panels back on is tough though). It is DEFINITELY worth it, and works perfectly.

I would also recommend to completely cut out the lower rubber half of the sealing plastic when you install the felt. It serves no purpose and can destroy tint with film that does not cover the entire underside of the windows.

Aside from that I think the felt kit price is a bit over the top. But it's comforting to finally know you can roll your windows up and down with no worries, right?

well...thats why I asked. its 30 bucks for a soft strip of fabric....I wanted to hear from people if it REALLY is worth it or not. Kinda like having a Roomba......"Do you REALLY need a vacuum cleaner that vacuums by itself??"

However, in this case, I have been convinced that it is worth the money to install these things....better to do it right the first time I guess...

I will correct myself. I was not able to find the same quality felt in a nearby store and I did not want to spend anymore of my time lookng for a couple of bucks off.

i had my tint redone at my cost.. it was b.s. i went to a local tint shop and they just conveniently forgot to suggest putting on some kind of felt on the door.. soo i did it and now it looks like the felt is comming off and by comming off it leaves this stiky residue on my window and looks right down ugly.. imma demand i get this fixed for free... this tint problem sucks.... i would get moleskin from all the positive review i've seen.. its only 30 bucks or having to redo ur tint.. u pick your poison lol

The stock liner leaves streaks on non-tinted windows. I'd absolutely change it.
