$280-300 too much for tinting? (Toronto)
I paid $125 to have my Evo done and $125 for my GTP as well. Both were done at seperate times. His normal going rate is in the $200 range depending on the car.
The guy that did my tint has been tinting my cars since '99 so he cuts me a bit of a break.

How should I tint my lancer, this is my first time so I don't knwo what's the general rule when it comes to tinting, I know it's 5/20% for windows but should I tint the sun roof window and front and rear view window too??
If so how much should I tint and will the shop charge me extra for that?? Please reply asap and thank you!

5% all around? Here in Alberta? Get ready to say hello to tint tickets galore...
yep that's the kit I'm talking about, I read that guide already but this is my first car, first manual, and I have absolutely no experience with car modding/repairs/maintenance whatsoever so I think I'll let the shop do it.
my dad however, can install pretty much every mod for me but he doesn't want to void the 10 year warranty
. And I don't wanna give him more work than he already has so I think I'll shell out the money myself and get it done professionally.
Another question I have is I always drive on the highway and living in Toronto the weather sometimes gets really cold or there's freezing rain, if I use those plastic stick things to scrap the ice off the window will it damage the tints easily?

Thanks for the help guys I ended up getting 28% all around, it looks great but i would've done 20% at the back to make it a bit more darker for my liking, but because I don't want to different shades I ended up getting a 28% all around.
I asked the guy at the tint shop and he said at the front the legal limit is 35% which is way too light might as well not get tints, and the rear has no limit, but having 35 front and 5 back is too drastic and does not look good, 28% is a good choice if you want a balanced look and for cops who see it they won't instantly pull you over, might not even realize it's illegal if they see it at night so it's a good choice!
anyways, thanks again loving my tints, moving onto my next mod now

Well I am no expert but ususally tints should go lighter in the front and back.
1. You will see better since those are the windows mostly used. Safety
2. If by any chance you think you are in risk of getting a ticket roll down the windows before they take a close looks and the car will look much brighter inside and also the back and front are not as dark...just my 2 cents...
Example: 20% on the sides and 35% or 40% front and back. Our cars also have black interiors so, It does make the inside look darker.

crayon, what shop did you do to? I am also in Toronto, I got mine tinted over the weekend at EJ Auto Tint in Markham. Seems like a really great guy. He installed the moleskin, and he used Llumar AT tint, which is high quality and comes with a lifetime warranty. I"ve got 35% on all the sides and 15% on the rear windshield. He did all of that and the moleskin for 290, taxes included. And it is a really amazing tint job.
I went to get a quote today and the guy told me $260 for 18% tint on every window except front wind shield. He said he couldn't use a metallic tint because I have the navigation and a carbon based tint wouldn't block the GPS signal (Metallic would). Anyone know if metallic tint would really mess up the navigation, or is the antenna for the GPS already mounted outside? Also, whats the difference in looks between metallic tint and carbon tint?
