Hey all,

Well my first post since getting a 2008 Lancer GTS (Canada). No Navi.

I'd like to perform the same kind of setup I currently have in my Audi, meaning installing a Single DIN aftermarket headunit with a front USB stick slot, and a single DIN 7" popup touchscren display that I can hookup my CarPC to it. Pic of my Audi setup is below.

Anyway, my Audi also had a factory amplifier and subwoofer, and I remember wiring the aftermarket headunit was a PAIN and involved alot of tapping into and splicing wires, which I would prefer not to do on the Mitsu to not put the awesome warranty in jeopardy. Hooking up the stock system and that the car looks untouched is a must if any warranty work on the sound system needs to be done.

Now for my actual question. Has anyone replaced the factory headunit with an aftermarket one on the Rockford Fosgate equipped Lancer? How about the steering wheel controls, are these lost after hooking up the aftermarket setup ?I'm just wondering if the Metra harness (or other) provides everything necessary connections so its a snapin-snap out wiring setup (although I doubt it).

I had a Pioneer Avic D3 (Double Din) installed in my '08 without any problems. But I didn't get the RF system in it. I am still waiting on someone else to figure out the steering wheel controls though, no shop I have talked to knows how to splice into that yet. Now that Metra's dash kit is out hopefully someone will figure it out.
