aux input question!!!

Ok, so i have an 2008 ES with the sun/sound package and my question is, can i just buy aux cables that plugs into my ipod, directly into the white/red aux inputs below the dash just in front of the shifter???

I've tried buying ipod cables for it, but so far the ones' ive bought have been too thick to slip in the inputs, and i'm just wondering if i have to go to a dealership to buy the right cable and how much is it?

I've gone to mitsubishiparts.com , and seen an ipod converter for 150 bucks, but i really hope that is not the part, cause if it is, i'll just be cool buying an fm transmitor or burn 6cds

I know there's a thread on an ipod cable install around here somewhere for people who dont have the sun/sound stereo but i couldn't find it

thanx for the input guys

if u want a simple cheap solution go to best buy and get a aux cable that has the red and black aux on one end and the headphone jack on the other end. plug that in to ur ipod and the aux cables into the spot under the dash and hold the cd button. ur head unit will go into AUX mode and then just hit play on ur ipod. the cable costs like $5 so if u dont mind having to change through songs directly on ur ipod and having it not charge while its playing then this would be the best solution IMO

i was at best buy earlier......only saw 2 kinds of cables, both were about 10 bucks. Picked one of them up, but , the connectors were too big for the input jacks, so i have to return them.

I found them in the ipod accessory section.....i'll drop by the dealership see if they have any in stock and if i could get one ....for free

Lol.... ok so go a any electronic store. Ask for RCA audio cables (RED and WHITE) with a 3.5 headphone jack. (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=164) is an example. Radioshack/ walmart will probably be the cheapest.

eh... the RCA connectors they're talking about allows you to plug your iPod's headphone jack into the car's RCA AUX input. Now, unless Apple changed their headphone jack (I wouldn't put it past them, but I doubt they would change that part of the iPod), a 1/8 DIN to RCA cable will still work, and it'll work with ~any~ MP3 player for that matter.

That's weird. I picked up a standard RCA cable from Circuit City and it fit my car's jack fine.

Maybe give it another shot? I know that I generally have a very hard time getting mine to go in the holes unless I have them lined up exactly right.

Yeah sorry, i meant to say that you can't output video to the nav screen from the headphone jack anymore. The older ipods had that option. Sorry for the confusion.

sometimes when u plug an RCA in for the 1st time its a tight squeze so just try to give a little force and it should go in fine.
