Lancer GTS MP3 cable
I have the navi and ipod video and it works fine. but what fusion said it wont work when driving.
The Mitsubishi salesman that sold me my car (2009 Lancer SE) said that if you have the RCA to Ipod connector you are able to change songs with the steering wheel and stereo controls. I think he's full of s***. I'd love to be wrong though. Can anyone clarify this for me?
I thought that's what the MP3/IPOD cable they sell is for, since it's not part of the NAVI. I don't have an Ipod so I really don't care.
No, you can't change the song from the steering wheel controls with just a RCA cable hooked up. Essentially, what's happening with that set up is the car's speakers are taking the place of the earbuds. You're plugging your iPod into a giant set of headphones.
you could always try getting the ipod cable from the galant. not sure whats involved in the install for the galant, or even if it would work for the lancer. But it would be a place to start.
The RCA hook-up for my iPhone was same as dealer price, $50, but that was from Apple, so of course there's cheaper knock-offs available.
Video does display when the video input is plugged in, but same as the DVD playing option, video will shut-off when the vehicle is in motion. I haven't tried to play video from my iPhone since I installed the DVD hack to let me watch DVDs while driving, but it'd make sense if that would remedy it.
