Hardwiring Radar
Hardwiring Radar
I'm trying to hardwire my V1 into my 09 GTS. Done some searching around here, and the common solution seems to be to tap into the back of the front 12V power outlet. My question is, what's the easiest way to get to that? Alternatively, is there a wire under the steering column I can tap into instead? My wire for the main unit is coming down the A pillar, and the remote display is sitting on top of the steering column, so if I could draw the power from under the steering column instead of having to go behind the center console, I would think that would be ideal. I'm sure there's one under there I can use - but the lack of a voltmeter isn't helping me find the right one.
Thanks in advance for any help!

its easiest to just put the ground wire to the chassis anywhere under the dash, and then for +12v, use the cig lighter fuse in the fuse box by the drivers leg. go to auto zone and spend the 7 dollars and change for an add-a-fuse thing....it really makes things much easier, just make sure you have a spare fuse available, because it needs 2 fuses; one for the cig lighter, and one for the accessory. I have some underdash lights running off that fuse using this connector and it is just fine. If you feel this is too complicated, for whatever reason, make sure you tap into a +12v IGNITION wire, NOT a constant wire!!!!
good luck
