How to delete out "Periodic Inspection"?

I change my own oil and do my own basic services. Just the other day on the console; everytime I start up my Lancer, the console "chimes" and it reads " periodic inspection." I am guessing that this is the reminder to have your vehicle serviced. Does anyone know how to delete this out of the menu or reset the maintenance intervals on your own? Thanks in advance!

Take it to the dealer to have it turned off with the MUT-III. They can also change it to a different mileage/month setting. You can reset it yourself using the info button.
With the key out & door closed, press the info button until the periodic service light is displayed. Press and hold the info button until it says clear. Press it one more time to clear the mileage.

Misutech: Thank you so much for the information. I figured I could just take it into the dealer, but have not had a chance to, so this is a great help! I appreciate everything! Ryan

Thanks for the info. I just hit my first inspection warning and thought I was going to go nuts trying to clear it.

You don't need to take it to the dealer, You turn it off using the info button to the left of the steering wheel. Its in the manual. It says to turn the car on but don't start it (ACC = ON) then push the info button until it shows the mile indicator with the wrench below it (on the center info screen) then press and hold the info button for a few seconds. The car will beep and the miles above the wrench will change/flash. This resets its.

That only resets it. The original post asked to turn it off. For the vehicles with NAVI, I turn off the MID using the scan tool and use the service reminder built in the NAVI head unit.

Oh, I misunderstood, I didn't think it was possible to turn it completely off. I just might have to do that. I'm sick of always having to reset it.

MITSUTECH Once again, thanks for the advice. I did not realize either that you are actually deactivating the Inspection Warning! The little sticker reminder in the corner of my windshield works just fine! I will definetly refer any other questions or concerns your way! Seems that you are more then qualified to answer most questions on the Lancer!

So wait...the dealer can turn off the peridodic inspection schedule completely? This isn't something we can do ourselves is it? How much would it cost?

got a question, i just did my oil change, and the periodic inspection is gone now.

but instead of "xxxx" miles over x months in the display, it only shows x months? how do I fix that?

btw, i drive an evo, so i don't know if its the same.

I got the same problem here also! 6 months have past and my car haven't reach the 7500 miles check up...heck my car has only 2500 on it. Is there a way to change the 6 months period/7500.

Turning Maint. reminder on

Hello,

The service/maint. reminder on my multi function display is OFF. How do you reenable it? I have a 2008 GTS with the MMCS and R/F audio.

I have tried pushing the info button until the wrench flashes but not matter what I do after that it still says off.

Thanks,
Mike
