To make the story short I just picked up my 'New' Lancer, an '03 Oz Rally in great condition but with the catch of some high miles. Planning on changing the oil to synthetic friday. Ive been reading through all the FAQs here and seeing whats possible but not seeing a lot on what I should be looking out for with a car that has such advanced millage.

The winters in my area get pretty bad so I was thinking of installing some coil-overs as my first performance mod but im sure there are other things I should be looking at before I go that far. Would appreciate any suggestions. The car is stock, I can post some pictures tomorrow for everyones viewing pleasure. Thanks.

*Edit: Forgot to mention this is the 5-speed and not the auto.

 

What do you know that's been done to the car? Like service wise...

 

Sadly I don't know a lot. Picked it up from a dealer who got it from auction. The tires look good but other than that I don't know enough to know what else to look for. Was thinking about taking it to a mechanic to have it looked over.

 

Ok well around that time you want to check on the timing belt, water pump, tensioners, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, oil, transmission fluid, coolant, you know things like that...
