someone attempted to steal my fog lights!

its been 10 days since Ive purchased my 2nd lancer. This time i went for the gts, well last night someone tried to steal my fog lights, the driver side fog light was hanging and the sides of my bumper were sticking out. the screw was removed that holds the light in place, luckily the noob that tried to steal the lights didnt know what he was doing and luckily he didnt key my car or anything. The car is parked outside my apartment right near my apt.

my question is does anyone know a good alarm to install ? im thinking the ones that tell you with in a 1mi radius where your car sensor has been activated.

Oh **** man! I've had something similar happen as well. Except the guy couldn't find the screws , and he only popped out the plastic that holds the foglights on both sides. And tha car was parked in my backyard!

dude buy a Taser, wait outside every night for a week and see if he comes back, then get it on video. then confront, have your girlfriend stop the camera, and tase. Repeat until done

thats what i would do.

I installed 3 GPS locators in my car, if it gets stolen, me and a couple of car crews are going to track it down and deliver a beat down

I didn't realize that fog lights are in such high demand...

Get those dye things that burst if you steal the merchandise. If a part gets too far away from your car, the dye pops and covers the perp.

well i just got back from a local alarm and tint shop.

the main san antonio alarm place wanted 399.00 for a alarm system installed that has one of those LCD screens on them and i said pffft to them !

so i went through my jobs "discount company list" and found this place about 1 minute from my job. called the guy up told him what happened and i went down there during my lunch hour.

I bought an excalibur alarm system with a LCD remote with a 1/4 mi range and suntek tint installed for 379.00 OTD (saved about 32.00 in tax and the alarm system is currently 100 off, would have cost 479). I was originally quoted 179.99 for the same suntek tint installed by some other place and 249.99 from the main san antonio alarm place (just for tint)

the install will take place tomorrow at 8am and he is even giving me a ride to work!

should be done by lunch time tomorrow, everything comes with a life time warranty, and excalibur has a vehicle content warranty also.

oh and I already ordered my tint protector from tintprotector.com should be in tomorrow or wed (ordered thursday).

the camera idea sounds good, im thinking about it! maybe just park my car right outside my window with windows half way done and sunroof open and just wait for him.

Remember the James bond BMW with the electrified sides, that would be best.Or the theft prevention thing from the commercial on robocop 2, where once the guy gets inside the car would lock him in and fry him.

Man that sucks that they bummed your ride, i would be pissed, but good that you got the two way,

Yeah, I'd be really pissed too, and why the fog lights? wtf. I know I'd want to wait to see if he comes back for more, but if they're smart they don't hit the same place twice. You can always park in the grass and set up some claymores around the car! COD4 style .

In all honesty its probably not a good idea to wait around and try to confront them yourself, you never know how many of them were are, and if they are carrying guns. However it was probably some small time crook/jackass that decided he needed some fog lights. Its best to let your new alarm system and the police handle it.

hmm

arms and disarms the fast key ?

i got a two way pager installed and the fast key works just like it should with an aftermarket alarm.

my buddy has a 350z with a viper two way installed and his fast key works.

when i disengage my alarm my fast key will still start my car, when I engage my alarm my fast key will still unlock the car. I dont think theres a way they can over ride the factory entry system to just use aftermarket and if there is Im not srue if it would work with fast key.

does anyone know which "wire" they would have to tap into to hook up the "open trunk" button on an aftermarket alarm. my installer was unsure which wire to use for trunk so he didnt install that feature yet.

in your trunk if you pull back the driver side liner youll see 2 sets of wire harness. within one of them there is a green wire thats about 16 ga., that is your trunk release wire. i installed my alarm back in apr. 07 and i believe the wire will read 12 volts when activating the trunk release on your factory key. biggest problem they will have is figuring out how to take your alarms accesory activation and make it double pulse that wire to pop yyour trunk
