I prefer "Seafoam" or "Lucas" products. Seafoam comes in a can a little bigger then a soda can, and you can use it on about anything that uses gas and oil. Just dump a can on your next fill up, and do it every 3-4 months. Lucas fuel additive comes in a small plastic container that is tall and thin. Same principle, just dump the entire bottle, which is about 8 ounces or so into your gas tank on your next fill up. Try to not refill or add any more fuel to your tank till it is near empty to get the full effect. I usually will use Lucas about once a month, since it is a little cheaper, and less product. Lucas runs around $4.00 a bottle, and the Seafoam is right around $8.00 a can. Other then that, that is all I have ever done to any of my vehicles for fuel injection services. Lucas also makes great products such as stuff to add to your next oil change (oil additive) and or Transmission fluid change. You can buy both items at the local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts. Make sure it is warm outside if you use the Transmission additive. It is like rubber cement if you remember what that stuff was like in grade school! Great products though!

i went to a mitsu. dealer asking if they do fuel injector service and how much. I was pretty surprised when the service writer said doing a fuel injector service is a waste of time, and that i only need to worry about making sure my throttle body is clean. i just kinda gave him the stupid look and walked out. Im no car expert but dam i know having ur injectors cleaned is not a waste of time

You can actually put Seafoam directly into your vaccum lines and throttle body! Just pour a little bit in at a time while it is running. You need 2 people to accomplish this. One doing the pouring, and the other pressing on the accelerator. You should get a lot of white smoke coming out of your exhaust, which is built up carbon. Be advised though, that if you pour the Seafoam in too fast, the engine will bog down and can actually cut out. You need to keep the RPM's up and going while it is getting sucked into the vaccum lines or throttle body. Seafoam has a website that also discusses all the uses and how to's for new users! Good Luck

^^Yeah I've done that too. It certainly makes some smoke but I don't know how effective it is. But to answer the OP question, no it's not necessary.
