Just recently removed my badges from the trunk (lancer and mitsubishi lettering) but now i want to black out my diamond on the trunk!

I don't know what would be easier, to remove the badge and paint it all up or should i tape it up really good right on the trunk and paint it while its on, the only reason i ask is because I dont know about re-applying the badge in the exact center of the trunk!
