Downstream O2 Sensor Wires

Hey!

I checked out previous threads on O2 sensors, but I did not find anything on downstream sensors, only on upstream sensors (which I just replaced today). I have a 2003 Lancer ES.

I am in the process of replacing my downstream O2 sensor (codes and it has been 90k miles since they were last re/placed). However, when I got under the car, I felt with my hand that there is no connection point between the sensor and the wiring going from the car. Instead, the wiring from the O2 sensor went directly into the car (somewhere underneath the gear lever) through a rubber enclosure. I mean, I could just cut the wires underneath the car and connect them there, but that would be very troublesome since I only have ramps. Anyone have ideas how I can reach the O2 sensor connector inside the car?

You probably already fixed this since it's been a few weeks with no answer, but I just dealt with this as well and thought I'd post it anyway. Remove your center console inside the car, then access the plug side of the O2 sensor under the carpet on the right side way up by the passenger's foot. The carpet is open up there so you just fold it back a little. Press out the rubber backed snap ring on the car and you're done (if you didn't strip the crap out the O2 sensor in the cat like I did )
