noob exhaust question :)

Ok, a little bit of history on my oz.... i bought it just lance month, replaced motor mount, tranny mount, upper/lower hoses, plugs/wires, both belts, timing w/pump n tensioner, and the valve cover gasket. All pretty basic stuff. Now on to the exhaust. There is a header on there, NO idea what brand or anything, and all original after the header. I am wondering what kind of catback to put on... trying to avoid the buzzy ricey coffee can sound lol Was looking at this one on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/SRS-CATBACK-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-02-03-04-05-06-MITS-LANCER-OZ-ES-LS-SMOOTH-DEEP-TONE-/360397731204?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &fits=Model%3ALancer%7CYear%3A2003&vxp=mtr&hash=it em53e960f584

any input? Also should i put anything else on there? with just having the header n all Thanks in advance!

2.5" exhaust is too big for your motor...

Hey man! I was just cruising through these forums and saw your post. I bought this exhaust on from ebay for my 05 Oz Rally (same exhaust fits your car and my car) 2 weeks ago and it sound nice and deep (w/o silencer on). No ricey sound but a deep tone. I bought it from a seller named shopsmartautoparts and offered $200 and he accepted. Great deal if I do say so myself. (Don't know why these words are being automatically underlined.)

I have stock headers still, but those will be changed out later. But yeah, beautiful exhaust and great tone A+. Not much difference between a top of the line greddy in my opinion.

I think the ebay exhaust sounds nice and deep
I mean hey, it may be too big (2.5 inches) but who cares, it's not like our cars are making good power anyways.

Do not exceed 2.25" anywhere in the exhaust. You will lose back pressure and low end torque. We need all that we can get.

i didn't notice this thread getting abandoned..ooops! been really busy with my turbo Ralliart

yeah 2.25 max...i have a 4G94 lancer as well, and you do not want to lose what little torque you have...lol

most of the exhaust that ive seen and heard on lancers sounded ratty or just annoying... i had my exhaust (magnaflow) built and installed locally paid like 300 total for it and i sounds great w/ a nice deep sound to it

but yea 2.25 is the most u should go with, i personally have a 2.5 on mine and i havent had any problems with it.

your low end torque will suffer a bit at 2.5"
